A Weekend Getaway in Teton Valley

Published by
Taylor Owens

Between the towering peaks of the Tetons and the rolling farmlands of eastern Idaho, Teton Valley is a gem of a weekend escape. Whether you’re chasing mountain adventures or looking to unwind with good food and better views, this quiet corner of the Rockies offers the perfect balance of both.

Morning
Kick off your day in downtown Driggs with a stop at Rise Coffee House, a local favorite where the vibe is as welcoming as the espresso is rich. Pair your cappuccino with a house-made breakfast sandwich or a flaky pastry while you plan the day’s adventure. The bright, cozy interior makes it easy to linger a little longer than you meant to.

If you’re in the mood for an even larger selection of pastries, Wydaho Coffee Roasters has an abundance of options to fuel up before a hike.

Midday

Once you’ve fueled up, make your way south to the Darby Canyon Trailhead. The hike to Darby Wind Cave is one of Teton Valley’s signature adventures—a moderately challenging trek that rewards you with a rushing waterfall spilling from the mouth of a limestone cave. Bring a headlamp if you plan to explore inside and be ready for sweeping views of the valley on your way back down.

Afternoon
After a good hike, nothing hits the spot quite like a local craft beer. Head to Grand Teton Brewing in Victor, where you can relax on the patio with a pint of their famous 208 Session IPA or Bitch Creek Amber. The laid-back atmosphere, mountain backdrop, and friendly locals make it the ideal place to unwind.

If you enjoy ciders over beer, hop on over to High Point Cider also in Victor for some of their delicious options that fit the fall season.

Evening
As the sun starts to dip, treat yourself to dinner at Forage Bistro & Lounge, tucked away just off the main drag in Driggs. The menu blends seasonal ingredients with creative flair—think wild mushroom risotto, elk tenderloin, and thoughtfully curated cocktails. It’s the kind of spot that feels like a hidden treasure, offering fine dining without losing its small-town soul.

Sunset

End your evening the Teton Valley way—by catching the sunset over the Tetons. Pull off along Ski Hill Road or find an open field where you can watch the mountains glow in shades of pink and gold. As daylight fades and the stars begin to appear, you’ll be reminded why weekends like this are worth slowing down for.

A weekend in Teton Valley isn’t about checking boxes—it’s about savoring moments: a steaming cup of coffee, a mountain breeze, a well-earned beer, and the quiet magic of the Tetons at dusk.
